Omega Fire have received formal approval for the design proposal and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of a smoke ventilation system for a new residential basement car park. Following a detailed evaluation of the initial induction fan design proposals from a car park contractor, Omega Fire identified further design efficiencies available within the proposed design, by utilising the existing natural openings within the car park. Omega Fire gained approval for a design with a significant reduction in the required mechanical equipment; this resulted in a substantial cost saving to the client.

As part of the review process Omega fire will not only highlight any potential design risk in terms of Building Regulations approval, but also identify where further cost savings or improved efficiencies could be attained. Director Dane Owen said “This appointment highlights the high regard for the technical expertise and capabilities that Omega Fire have demonstrated, relating to the fire engineering design aspects of schools. This is a great project to be involved with and we look forward to adding real value to the process”.
