Blessed Thomas Holford RC College – 6th Form Building, Altrincham, Cheshire

Omega Fire has recently gained full approval for the development of a 3 storey 6th form building on the Blessed Thomas Holford RC College site. The building is to be served with a single enclosed staircase and a large open staircase to fully meet aspirations of the Architect, Pozzoni LLP. In addition to this, the design has been approved with no lobby to the fire fighting stair based on a robust fire engineering approach. Further fire engineering was used to justify the inclusion of inner, inner rooms and to limit the number of cavity barriers provided on the external facade. These solutions utilised the additional fire safety features which were already required by the building insurers to justify this deviation from Building Bulletin 100.

Omega Director BMX Champ!

Mark Egan wins the North of England BMX Championship

mark_manc_jump_compressedOmega Fire Director Mark Egan won the North of England BMX Winter Series for the 30+ Cruiser class.  Mark only took up the sport a couple of years ago but has taken to it like a duck to water.  The adrenaline fuelled sport involves eight riders getting around a track filled with jumps and obstacles as quickly as possible.  The championships took place over seven rounds on tracks all over the North of England spread ranging from Crewe to Hartlepool.  Mark will also be flying the Omega Fire flag (not to mention the Union Jack!) when he competes in the World BMX Championships in South Africa in August this year; we will keep you posted of his progress here!.....

Omega Fire Deliver Soreen Factory Fire Strategy

Soreen_Logo_Y

Omega Fire have just completed a fire engineering analysis for the Soreen Factory in Trafford Park, Manchester.  The Soreen factory is currently expanding its production facilities and Omega Fire were commissioned to advise the design team on fire issues particularly in relation to streamlining the Building Regulations approvals process.
One of the most critical aspects of the design was to advise on the implications surrounding the Greater Manchester Act; Omega fire successfully consulted with the Greater Manchester Fire Service to ensure that the level of safety within the buildings were in accoordance with their expectations, whilst ensuring that expenditure was not wasted on potentially redundant fire safety systems.
