Blessed Thomas Holford RC College – 6th Form Building, Altrincham, Cheshire
Omega Fire has recently gained full approval for the development of a 3 storey 6th form building on the Blessed Thomas Holford RC College site. The building is to be served with a single enclosed staircase and a large open staircase to fully meet aspirations of the Architect, Pozzoni LLP. In addition to this, the design has been approved with no lobby to the fire fighting stair based on a robust fire engineering approach. Further fire engineering was used to justify the inclusion of inner, inner rooms and to limit the number of cavity barriers provided on the external facade. These solutions utilised the additional fire safety features which were already required by the building insurers to justify this deviation from Building Bulletin 100.
